Chapter 3: Masking the Innocence.
Perenelle gasped and Nicolas looked just horrified. “Why? Why would you do such a thing?” whispered Nicolas in shock. “The Aurors are going to hunt for you… And when they find you… They’ll cart you to Azkaban before you can say anything!”
Tom sighed sadly and stared at the tablecloth. How to answer? How to explain? “Tom, just tell us. We’ll understand,” said Perenelle gently, patting Tom’s hand. Tom looked back to Nicolas and Perenelle. The two people he considered his parents. He didn’t want them to be disappointed in him.
“Okay,” he agreed. “I told you that I saw Harry’s baby memories right? I saw what old lady Potter did and I was angry. I waited for the right time and I just thought… today was the right time. I killed her and destroyed the house but not before I saw James Potter cast a Shield Charm around himself and his family,”
Perenelle laughed wearily, brushing away the stray tears on her face. “Even then you were still so kind hearted,” she said with a teary smile on her face. “We can’t tell Harry. Not until he’s ready to know of this,” Her face was set resolutely and grim determination played across her slightly wrinkled face.
Tom gave his agreement and looked at Nicolas. Did he really want this man to be disappointed in him? “What can I say? Harry would probably never want to see old lady Potter’s face ever. But you’re a good man to have spared his family,” started Nicolas. “The only thing is, they know you have Harry now. They’ll try to find him and we have to do something to make sure they don’t get him. I don’t want to lose him but if Harry wants to go back to them… It’s his choice. Just not know,”
If there was one thing Tom realized that day, it was that both Nicolas and Perenelle care very much for Harry and him. He gave them a warm smile and hugged them tightly, whispering “Thank you,”
Remus turned out the light of the guest room leaving the two bundled up kids asleep in the bed. He turned down to the sitting room and entered the same time as Sirius who was holding a tray of tea. James looked distraught and Lily was sobbing quietly. “What happened?” asked Sirius in his usual straightforward manner as he poured out the tea.
He handed one to Lily and another to James before taking the last two cups for himself and his boyfriend. Remus accepted the drink gratefully and sank down into the opposite sofa and Sirius sat on the arm of the sofa. James sipped the tea carefully before speaking. “Today was just like any other. Lils and me. We took the kids out to play. Suddenly, Tom, Bella and a few others dressed in black and masked appeared in our sitting room. They cast a spell on my mother and tied us on the sofa.”
Lily continued from there. “Tom told mum to tell us and she told us what she did to Harry,” Her voice shook and she kept quiet, not trusting herself to speak. James relayed what he had heard and gasps of outrage from his best friends. Finally, he told them that Tom had bombed the ceiling leaving him to protect his family with a Shield Charm.
“I always knew Riddle was a bastard. Him and my darling cousin Bella,” spat Sirius angrily. Remus placed a soothing hand on Sirius’ thigh and Sirius kept quiet in a brooding silence. Remus cleared his throat and said “From the way Tom reacted, he must’ve found Harry. If not how would he know? That means Harry is under his care and you can get your son back,”
Lily sniffled and burst out “Would he even want us back?! After what that woman did?!” James put an arm around Lily’s shoulder and soothed her with gentle words. Sirius piped up “We’ll just have to find Riddle and ask Harry won’t we?”
That night…
Tom tucked in his exhausted son and kissed his forehead before settling down in the armchair next to Harry’s cot. He opened a storybook and started reading watching as Harry slowly drifted off, unaware of the crime his father had done. Tom leaned over and ran his fingers through Harry’s hair. Soft just like any little kid’s hair.
“Goodnight Harry,” he whispered before leaving the room and dimming the lights. He knew Harry hated the dark.
10 years later….
A raven-haired boy took off on his broom into the sky laughing loudly. His face was covered with a half mask that covered his eyes and a part of his nose. Obviously, there were holes for him to see through.
Soon enough, another man joined him in the air and gave chase. Round and round they went in the cornflower blue sky. The young 7-year-old’s eyes glittered as he swooped into a dive and pulled up just inches from the ground. He heard clapping and was happy to see the older man smiling broadly and proudly at him.
“Harry Mikhail Riddle! I saw that!” shouted a woman sternly as she stepped down from the back patio. Harry laughed and landed gracefully in front of the woman, pouting cutely. “But Aunt Nellie…” he whined. “It was just for fun!” Perenelle rolled her eyes as she kissed his forehead lightly.
“You’re lucky I’m so forgiving,” she said mock sternly, her laughing eyes gave her away and Harry took off to the skies again and joined his father in the air. Tom laughed and the father and son stuck their tongue out at Perenelle cheekily, which made her laugh at their likenesses. Maria was the next to come out onto the patio with a tray of ice-cold lemonade for a hot summer day.
“Monsieur Tom! Harry! Come down and have a drink,” she called out. Immediately, two blurs landed on the ground and came racing over for the drinks. Maria chuckled as she poured out 3 glasses of lemonade before escaping into the house. Just in time too because no one came between Harry and his lemonade. It was after all his favorite drink.
The 3 sat together quietly watching the sun set over the horizon each brooding on their own thoughts. Harry understood why he wore the mask. His father had told him everything when he was 6. Even though he wanted to throw a tantrum like any other 6-year-old, his sensible mind kicked in and he asked his father to explain.
He had vague memories of what happened but couldn’t help but feel glad that the old lady dumped him when she did. If not, he wouldn’t have met his father, Aunt Nellie and Uncle Nicolas. He loved his new family and his new name. He didn’t want to return to his old family.
“Dad?” he asked. Tom looked at him with a gentle smile on his face. “I have to go to Hogwarts right?” Tom reached over and tussled his son’s hair, replying “Yes Harry. It’s a requirement that all young wizards go. I don’t want you careering off to Durmstrang,”
Harry laughed and gulped down his lemonade. Just 2 days ago, on his 11th birthday, a letter had come for him, telling him he had a place in Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. He wasn’t shocked. He knew something like this would happen. After all, he had been trained in various aspects of magic since he was young.
His father, he knew was a wanted man. For killing that old lady and usage of the Unforgivable Curses. That was why he was required to wear this mask whenever he was outdoors. Should they go to an open and public area, he would wear a cloak with the hood up. It made people peer at him curiously but for safety reasons… Harry readily agreed. He didn’t want to lose another family and get forced to return to the Potters.
“We’d better go down to Diagon Alley tomorrow. It’s only a few weeks till Harry goes off to Hogwarts,” said Perenelle fondly with a hint of sadness. Harry smiled at his godmother and stood up. He moved to her and hugged her. “Don’t worry Aunt Nellie, I’ll write to you when I’m there. Every single day!” he announced brightly. Harry was particularly receptive of people’s feelings and Perenelle laughed.
“Pinky promise?” asked Perenelle smilingly, holding out her right pinky. Harry grinned, holding out his own. “Pinky promise,”
Diagon Alley…
Rosaline Nerissa Potter clung to her father’s hand while looking around the brightly decorated street in awe. For a moment, she forgot why she was here in the first place. “Gods Rose, stop clinging to dad like a lifeline! We’re just coming here to shop for our school stuff!” said Aidan in an irritated voice, grabbing his twin sister’s hand and yanking her off their dad’s arm.
Rose slapped Aidan’s hand and glared at him, her brown eyes promising revenge when they returned home. “Shut up Dan! It’s our first time going away from home! I’m just nervous!” she snapped. James rolled his eyes and stepped between his children.
“Time out. If I hear one more argument from the two of you, you’re going home with me and I’ll send the both of you to separate schools,” said James firmly, in a voice that brooked no argument or protest.
Lily exited Flourish and Blotts to see James standing between Rose and Aidan who were giving each other death glares but weren’t saying anything to each other. She sighed and shrunk the books before placing them into her pocket. “James, why not bring Rose to choose her owl and I’ll bring Aidan to get his wand. When we’re done we’ll exchange,” suggested Lily.
James readily agreed and took Rose to Eeylopes Owl Emporium while Lily went in the opposite direction to Ollivander’s.
Perenelle walked next to Harry pointing out various shops and enjoying Harry’s responses. She had to practically drag Harry out from Flourish and Blotts because he was son interested in the various advanced texts that he had not seen in the Flamel’s library.
She had gotten him a snowy white owl for his going away present and he was happily playing with the owl, which he named Hedwig. “Aunt Nellie?” he asked looking up from the owl on his shoulder. “May we go to the Apothecary? I’d like to see all the Potions stuff now and get a kit of my own,”
She smiled at him and offered her hand. “Of course Harry. That will be the second last stop seeing as we don’t have to get you a wand as you got one when you were 7. But you’re going to have to go to Madam Malkins for robes,” said Perenelle in agreement. Harry slipped his small hand into her warm one and they made their way down the street.
__
Lily smiled at Aidan who was voicing out various names to give to his grey screech owl. She wasn’t looking where she was going and accidentally knocked into a boy who she couldn’t see the face because he wore a hooded cloak and a mask. “Oh! I’m sorry!” said the boy politely. “I wasn’t looking where I was going. Hedwig, come down girl. I’ve got some owl treats,” The young boy pulled a few owl treats and placed it on the palm of his hand. Finally, the white owl, which he called Hedwig, came down and took the treats.
“Harry! Don’t run off like that!” said a worried woman. “Oh dear, I’m so sorry. He ran off without me and must’ve bumped into you,” Lily smiled at the woman and felt a pang when she heard the lady call the child Harry. ‘He must be her son’ thought Lily.
She smiled at the lady and said, “It’s no problem. I wasn’t looking where I was going either,” Perenelle and Lily exchanged polite smiles before moving off to their intended directions. Lily to Leaky Cauldron and Perenelle with Harry to Madam Malkins for his robes.
As soon as Harry saw that Lily and Aidan was out of earshot, he looked up at his godmother and asked, “Aunt Nellie, was that Lily Potter?” Perenelle noted that he did not call her mother. She ruffled his already messy mop of raven locks and nodded. Harry gave a small ‘Hm’ and had his deeply in thoughts face as they made their way to Madam Malkins.
Perenelle gently guided him through the doorway of the shop mostly due to the fact he almost kissed the closed door of the shop. “Harry?” she said, calling him out of his thoughts. He jerked back and looked up at Perenelle looking disheveled. “I’ll wait outside all right?” He nodded and Perenelle escaped from the slightly crowded shop.
Harry waited quietly for his turn and stepped up on the small wooden block to be measured by a measuring tape. “Hello,” a voice drawled. Harry glanced to his right and saw a boy who was slightly shorter than him with pure blonde-white hair and grey eyes. It looked to Harry like the boy had a permanent look of cold indifference on his face.
“Hello,” Harry replied politely. No use being rude. His father would kill him if he disused his manners. The boy smirked and said airily “Finally, a polite person. You’d think this place had more polite people,” Harry raised an eyebrow and stifled his snickers and the blonde’s airs and graces.
Harry cleared his throat and chose to introduce himself first. “I’m Harry. And you are?” he said, his voice dripping with buttery politeness. If the blonde wanted polite people, Harry would be a polite person. Always go with the flow. That was what his Uncle Nick thought him.
Harry it seemed chose to do the right thing for the blonde smirked haughtily and replied “Malfoy. Draco Malfoy,” Harry smiled and leaned over to shake Draco’s outstretched hand when the tape measure was done with him. The moment their hands shook, a bond of friendship tied them together and they grinned easily at each other.
As Madam Malkin worked on altering his robes – Harry’s mask was still on – Draco roamed the shop looking for a nice cloak to buy. “So Harry,” he drawled. “What House do you think you’ll be in? I bet I’ll be in Slytherin. My dad was a Slytherin,” Harry had given some thoughts on what House he would be sorted in and hoped it would be Slytherin because of his Parselmouth skill.
“Slytherin,” he replied easily without any hesitation. “My father was a Slytherin,” Harry could literally sense Draco’s approval of him upping as soon as he replied and was glad of it. At least he made a friend. Harry remembered somewhat vaguely that his father knew a Lucius Malfoy and was now attempting to court Harry’s Uncle Severus. “Your father?” enquired Draco. “May I ask who he is?” Harry glanced at Draco out of the corner of his eye and replied cryptically “Your father would know. Ask him who slept in the same dorm as him and slept near the door and always woke up at 6,”
Draco was slightly peeved by Harry’s response. Did he not know when a Malfoy wanted an answer, the answer would be a clear and to the point one? But still, this boy named Harry intrigued him. He was curious to know why he kept that mask on. Did he have a birth defect? Or perhaps a scar of some sort. Draco was determined to unmask the boy but not break him. No, breaking him would break the life in those swirling green eyes.
“Very well. Would you like to keep in correspondence until we meet on the Hogwarts Express?” asked Draco primly. He silently prayed Harry would say yes. He wanted to get to know this boy and uncover his secrets. Harry smiled lightly and jumped off the wooden block and replaced his cloak, pulling up the hood once more.
“It would be a pleasure,” said Harry happily, producing a spare parchment and quill from his pocket and handing them to Draco. Draco scribbled his address on the parchment quickly and handed it back to Harry.
“Nice meeting you today,” said Harry quietly. Before Draco could respond, Harry was already gone and walking up the street to The Leaky Cauldron to floo back home. Draco had a smile threatening to play out across his face as he joined up with his mother outside Madam Malkins.
“You look happy,” observed his mother. Draco merely smiled cryptically in response and his mother chuckled as he launched into the story of meeting a green-eyed boy in the robe shop.
That night at the Malfoy Manor, the dining room… (a/n: I know. Quite a number of eating scenes)
Draco finished up the last of the well-cooked lamb shank and placed his fork and knife together at the left of his plate before dabbing his mouth with the napkin on his lap. Lucius smiled at his son’s table manners and inclined his head. Draco returned the smile and sipped his orange juice carefully.
“Father,” started Draco carefully, cushioning his cup with his pinky finger so it would not bang down on the table. Lucius looked up from his own nearly finished plate of lamb shank in surprise. “Yes my Dragon?” replied Lucius.
Draco cleared his throat a couple of times before starting, “I met a very interesting person today. He said you knew he’s father. A boy who slept in the same dorms as you, slept near the door and always woke up at 6 without fail,”
Lucius chuckled, finishing up his meal in the same fashion as Draco except he nursed a wine glass in his hand. “Yes, I knew of a boy like that. Tom Riddle,” he replied, still chuckling. “I believe it means you have met Harry?” Draco nodded enthusiastically and was about to launch into the same story he had told his mother on the way back from Diagon Alley.
“Wait, did you say Harry is Tom Riddle’s son?” exclaimed Draco. Lucius nodded in response. “Tom Riddle was the one who killed old lady Potter then went after the Longbottoms because they chose to get involved in it. Only their son survived,”
Narcissa wisely chose to stay out of this conversation. This was between father and son. She would not get involved unless things got out of hand. Out of hand meaning Draco throwing a temper tantrum. But she could see that Draco was paling at the thought of befriending a murderer’s son.
Lucius sighed. “Tom only did it because he did not want to lose Harry and Harry would not have wanted to lose his new father. If that was what family did to their children, then I’d say dear old Tom was right in doing what he did.”
Draco sputtered and he stood up from the table outraged. “But father! How am I to know Harry isn’t planning on killing me either?!” Lucius slammed his wine glass down on the table and massaged his temples to prevent the headache that was coming to worsen.
“Draco, we have discussed this matter when you got the letter from Hogwarts,” said Lucius warningly. “Tom Riddle is an old friend of mine and he made his intentions clear. He only killed the people who were involved in Harry’s abandonment and not Lily and James Potter. They were clueless to the events. Does this not prove that Tom Riddle has a conscience?”
Draco sat down heavily on his chair knowing full well that he could not go against his father’s reasoning. Also, he recalled the way Harry spoke of his father. With pride and love. That meant he loved Tom Riddle willingly and had accepted the heinous crimes he had committed. He could feel his father’s expectant look watching him unblinkingly.
“I will not bring this up with Harry unless he does and I won’t think any lesser of him,” he answered his father’s unasked question. His father gave a satisfied nod and picked up his wine glass once more. “Oh yes, Harry said he would correspond with me until we meet up at the train station,” said Draco proudly. He indeed did like Harry and not even the tiny fact his father was a kind murderer could stop him from pursuing the friendship.
Narcissa smiled and chipped in “Why, you did not mention that in our earlier conversation Dragon,” She noted her son’s excitement that rolled of him in great waves. He smiled apologetically. “Sorry mother. I was a bit caught up in the telling of how I met him,”
Lucius chuckled with his wife and he said, “You haven’t told me. Would you care to repeat your story for me, Dragon?” Draco smiled and launched into the tale once more with the same enthusiasm that made his parents smile lovingly at him.

Chapter 2: The Light of His Life
The Doll's Dream: 'The Breath if Life is My Gift to You. Our Souls are Joined as One'
Chapter 2:
Tom groaned as he came to wake in a dim room. His head pounded painfully as his eyes adjusted to the darkness of the room. All he could remember was the pain. Great pain, and he passed out. Suddenly, he remembered. The baby boy. Harry James Potter. That was his name. During the ritual of the Splitting Souls, Harry's baby memories all flooded into him. Tom knew of the cruel deeds that old lady Potter had done. He was angry. Very angry. How could she not see that young Harry is a remarkable child who is a fighter.
Tom struggled to sit up and a pair of gentle hands slowly helped him then fluffed up the pillows so he was comfortable. "How are you?" asked Perenelle gently. "Gave me quite a scare when you suddenly fell to the ground," Tom smiled tiredly at her, his raven eyes were shining with anger. Anger at the old lady. She was going to get what she deserved.
"I'm fine," replied Tom quietly. "Where's Harry?" Perenelle gave him a questioning look. Tom sighed. "Harry's the baby," And he proceeded to explain what he briefly saw in Harry's memories before he passed out. Perenelle looked dismayed by the end of it as she murmured "So young yet his life was already so disturbed," Tom felt thorough agreement to that comment and he inclined his head. "Yes, it's sad, but we will make his life a happy one. Before I ask you something, where is Nicolas?" asked Tom seriously. Just as he said that, the door to the room he rested in opened and Nicolas entered, cradling a cooing baby. Perenelle smiled as Nicolas came over and settled himself on the bed with Harry.
"Such a cute one," said Nicolas with a proud grin like as though Harry was his son. Tom chuckled. "Who would've thought. The slave driver has a soft spot for kids," said Tom playfully as Nicolas glared at him, blushing slightly. Perenelle broke down into peals of laughter and Tom joined in soon after. When they'd caught their breath, Tom said shyly "I would like it if the two of you became his godparents. Do you... mind?"
Nicolas and Perenelle exchanged delighted looks. Finally! A little child they could pamper, love and spoil! Due to some accident, Perenelle could not conceive childre. They had thought of adoption, but... Nicolas didn't want to adopt. He said that he would provide Perenelle with enough love and had jokingly said he wasn't going to share her.
"We'd love to be his Godparents Tom," said Nicolas warmly. He placed Harry on the bed, and Harry blinked in green eyes as he took in the presence of the new people. There, in the middle of his forehead rested a single lightning bolt shape signifying the only side effect of the Soul bond between him and Tom. "Welcome to the family Harry Mikhail Riddle," said Tom happily. Harry cooed his laughter and his eyes danced happily. Indeed, it seemed as though he liked this new arrangement.
__________
Lily tiredly placed Aidan into the cot and tucked him in with his blue blanket. Oh, the pain she went through everyday when she saw the things like Harry's milk bottle or pacifier lying around. She knew that after the 5th time she broke down, James had probably put all of Harry's baby things somewhere she couldn't see. Her precious baby. Dead of a fever. He had been a sickly child but she was so sure he would heal. As she looked down at the sleeping Aidan and his sister Rose, the dull ache lessened slightly but was replaced again when she realized, they would grow up never knowing that they had a baby brother.
She brushed away a stray tear and exited the nursery quietly. Upon exiting the room, she slumped down to the floor and cradled her head in her hands sobbing softly "Harry, oh Harry. I'm so sorry. Mummy's sorry she couldn't do anything for you,"
Old lady Potter watched her daughter in law break down at the exit of the nursery. She felt guilty, but pushed it off. No, she did it for the greater good. Now that the third triplet was out of the way, no harm would befall her family. No one would ever know the dirty deed she had committed. No one would know. She smiled evilly and went back to her room.
________
A year later....
James and Lily laughed as Aidan and Rosaline (aka Rose) stood up unsteadily and tottered a few steps towards their encouraging parents. As soon as they tumbled into their respective parents' arms, they laughed as Lily and James praised them. Lilly kissed Aidan's forehead and cooed "Such a good strong boy!" She stood up and swung him around, enjoying his loud laughter and his shouts of Mama. James chuckled and cuddled Rosaline. He stage whispered "We won't play rough like them. Especially not with a little princess like you!" Rose giggled and hugged her papa. "Wove you Papa!" she giggled. James kissed her forehead and replied "Papa loves you too sweetie,"
_____
Harry sat at a small table on a stool as Perenelle was seated on a large cushion. He listened with great attention to the story of the Goblin Rebellion. It intrigued him and his mind that seemed to sponge up every piece of information he came across. Harry Mikhail Potter was most certainly a genius and powerful child. By the time he was 5 months old, he was up and walking. By 8 months, he spoke clearly in his cute baby voice in fluent sentences and was already starting to read. By them time he was 1 (presently) he read many thick tomes that held his interest.
His father -Tom- made a timetable for him. Harry would take History lessons with Perenelle in the morning and Fighting lessons with Nicolas in the evening. Due to the fact Harry's magic was growing at a fast rate, Tom decided to personally teach him Occlumency and Legilimens. Perhaps when Harry was 5, he'd be able to get a wand and they could start him on Charms and Transfiguration. Harry was certainly a bright child that took great interest in not only his books but also the outdoors. The Flamels' gardener took it to him to teach him how to look after the plants in the giant backyard and greenhouse as well as their names and habitats.
Tom was happy Harry settled in his new family so well. When he did well, Tom would pamper him and take him out for picnics and games. If he did something bad, he was sent to the naughty corner for a period of time to think over what he did wrong. This would help to mature his mind and allow him to think things through before jumping into an action blindly. Tom shook out of his thoughts and looked up at the grandfather clock in his study and smiled. 10'o'clock.
He stood up, stretched lightly before exiting the study and walking down the carpeted corridor to the playroom where Harry had his lessons with his godmother. Tom's footsteps were swallowed by the thick and soft carpet as he knocked on the playroom door. "Come in," came the soft and gentle voice of Perenelle. He entered with a smile knowing that he would see Harry begging Perenelle to continue her story of the history tale they'd been learning.
"Please Aunty Nellie! It's just a bit more," begged Harry, using his puppy dog face. Perenelle chuckled and gathered him in her arms. "No Harry. It's time you went out to the gardens. I should think that Mike would be waiting to teach you more about the Devil's Snare," Perenelle smiled down at her godson who was pouting slightly but smiled when he heard the word garden. He kissed Perenelle's cheek and hopped off her lap.
He grabbed Tom's hand and tugged impatiently. "Come on daddy! Let's go!" he said with the impatience of a one-year-old. Tom laughed and pulled Harry up, swinging him up to his shoulder. Hearing his son's delighted shriek made him smile. As they made their way down to the gardens, Harry remained seated on his daddy's shoulders laughing happily. A jolly faced man in his mid 30's came out of one of the many greenhouses on the Flamel land with a bright grin on his face. "Here again you master?" he greeted jovially, looking up slightly at Harry who was giggling and asking to be out down.
When Tom finally mock relented, Harry smiled brightly and Mike. "Yes! I'm here to disturb you and ask you many questions again uncle Mikey!" he said excitedly. Mike chuckled jovially and held out his hand. "Come along then. Let's get cracking shall we?" he said, smiling when Harry took his hand and trotted after him into the greenhouse. Tom shook his head and smiled before he walked off and out of the Flamel estate. He had something to take care of.
_______
Old lady Potter sat on her rocking chair inside the sitting room of the Potter's house. She tried to ignore the cheerful noise out in the backyard. She could see through the sliding door's glass how much the children meant to her son and daughter-in-law. Sometimes she could see Lily sighing sadly and a wishful look appear on her face before it melted away into a smile. She knew that Lily still missed her youngest child. "It's all for the greater good. That useless sick child would've died anyway," muttered old lady Potter to herself unconvincingly. In her mind, she repeated a mantra she had came up with over the year. 'I did it for the greater good. I'm not at fault'.
Blinded by the so called 'greater good', she started to believe the lie she had come up with. Suddenly, the room's temperature dropped drastically as a man Apparated into the sitting room followed by a few other men dressed in black cloaks and masked. The man looked down at her coldly and pulled out his wand, uttering "Imperio,".
______
James watched as Lily told Aidan and Rosaline a Muggle fairy-tale. The children was so enraptured by the story their mouths were agape. Suddenly, James felt a cold shiver run down his spine. 'Mother,' he thought standing up quickly and striding back to the sliding door that separated the backyard with the sitting room. He reached just in time to see a man take out his wand and mutter a spell he could not hear. His mother's eyes glazed over as she slumped down in the rocking chair.
One of the masked man saw him standing there and James cursed his stupidity. The man took out his wand and before James knew it, the sliding door exploded. James quickly took out his wand and bellowed "PROTEGO!" The Shield Charm prevented the glass from harming him. He heard Lily's alarmed cry as she rushed over with Aidan and Rosaline.
"LILY! GET OUT OF HERE!" he shouted. Lily caught her husband's panicked look and gathered up her children and was about to Apparate out of there when another masked person -a woman by the sound of the voice- shriek "Immobulus!" Immediately, Lily and the children were immobile and was floating off the ground. The man that stood before James' mother smirked coldly. His black eyes held no pity for the family. "Good job Bella," he said offhandedly. "Bring them in along with Potter," James noted that the man spat out his last name like it was a poison or something. The woman -Bella- waved her wand carelessly and Lily and the children was floated into the house and dumped unceremoniously on the sofa. With another wave of her wand, the children and Lily were tied up.
"You either come in quietly and sit or I'll petrify you and personally dragged you in," threatened Bella. James had pride and walked in with his head held high. "Expelliarmus," muttered Bella, catching James' wand in her outstretched hand. James was about to protest but was shoved onto the couch by one of the masked people and was tied up next to his wife. "Bella, please allow the dear" spat out the man. "To be conscious for this,"
Bella nodded and muttered a quick "Finite," over the three immobilized people. They were immediately struggling but failed because of the ropes. The man was satisfied and turned back to old lady Potter. "Ah yes. Old lady Potter. I could always remember your sharp tongue back in my school days. Especially when you came to watch the Triwizard Tournament," sighed the man. He smiled coldly and glared down at her. "Now, tell your dear son and daughter-in-law what you did to Harry,"
Lily and James' eyes widened in surprise as old lady Potter started off in a monotone. "Albus approached me a few days before you delivered the children. He said that if they were triplets, I was to get rid of the one I disliked. So, when you turned out to have triplets, I immediately hated the frail one. He disgusted me. I hated his ugly eyes. So, one night and took him out and chucked him into an alleyway," After a moment she added "It was for the greater good,"
Lily let out an anguished cry as she started sobbing. James paled at his mother's words. "How could you..." he said in a hushed voice. "HOW COULD YOU!" he bellowed angrily. His children were afraid and upset so they too started crying. Tom smirked mercilessly. "Because your mother is and evil cow James Potter," he hissed. He turned his wand on old lady Potter and said "Finite," Immediately, the glassy look was gone as she stared up fearfully at Tom.
"Tom Riddle," she whispered fearfully. His smirked widened and he said coldly. "The last name you will ever utter. Avada Kevadra," Lily screamed as the blinding green light flashed out of the wand and her mother-in-law's eyes died of all light and life. James felt his tears run down his cheeks. "She deserved it," hissed Bella. Tom nodded to one of the shorter man and he took off his mask.
"Peter!" said James disbelievingly. "You! You were out Keeper! Why?!" Peter's watery eyes looked sadly at his friend. "I did it because it was the right thing to do. You allowed Harry to suffer, now you will suffer," he said quietly before Apparating out. The others followed and finally on Tom remained. He released them from their ropes and threw James' wand at him. With the skills of a Seeker, he caught the wand easily.
"You're going to need it," said Tom with an evil smile. He pointed his own wand at the ceiling of the sitting room and said "Bombarda Maxima," The ceiling exploded and Tom Apparated out of there a split second after he cast the spell. James shouted a powerful Shield Charm that protected him and his family from the falling ceiling and crumbling house. He watched as the woman who raised him body get crushed by a large piece of the ceiling.

Peter Apparated in Number 12 Grimmauld Place. The house was Sirius' after his brother Regulus died. Peter's friend lived here with his boyfriend Remus. He landed in the living room where Remus was reading a book. He looked up in surprise and saw Peter standing there. "Peter! What are you doing here?" asked Remus. Peter looked grimly at his friend and said mysteriously "I suggest you go to Godric's Hollow and help James," before Disapparating . Remus stood up and shouted "SIRIUS!"
___
By the time Sirius and Remus arrived at the Potters little house in Godric's Hollow, nothing was left standing except for a single sofa seating the 4 Potters. Remus ran over to them and noticed that James was very pale. Lily was cradling both Aidan and Rosaline to her chest as James was holding up the shield.
"James... Let it drop. We need to get you to St. Mungo's," said Remus gently. Sirius came over and helped carry Aidan whilst Remus carried Rosaline. Lily looked like she was about to drop into a dead faint at the ground. "No Remmy, bring us back to Grimmauld Place. We aren't hurt," said James tiredly. Remus carefully took out a portkey and activated it bringing them back to Grimmauld Place.

Tom Apparated into Bella's house just after what he had done. A satisfied smile plastered on his face as he sat down heavily on the sofa. Bella came in with two drinks and a smirk on her face. She silently handed one to Tom and they clinked the glasses together before tossing back the gin. "Never had that much fun in my life," drawled Bella as she sat opposite Tom. Tom inclined his head with a smirk and gulped down the rest of the gin. "All in an afternoon's work Bella dear," he replied wolfishly.
Bella chuckled throatily before she too emptied out her glass. As the two friends sat back and contemplated the events that had happened, a comfortable silence shrouded the place. Finally, Bella spoke up teasingly "Tommy boy. How're you and Sevvy poo?" Tom blanched as a blush worked its way up his high cheeks. Bella grinned wickedly and continued "Don't tell me you still haven't told him how you felt!" She had a look of mock horror on her face as Tom glared at her.
"Zip it Bells," he muttered. Bella burst into laughter as her friend sat on her sofa in embarrassed silence. "Ah," she said cheerfully. "You should just snog him senseless," Tom stood up abruptly still blushing. "I'm going," he said, embarrassed.
Bella wolf whistled. "Going to snog Sevvy?" she asked wickedly. Tom glared at her again and grounded out "No, I'm going home to my son," Bella pouted and waved carelessly just as Tom Disapparated. She sat back and smiled. Her gay friend could be so much fun.

Harry was brought back into the house by Nicolas -his uncle Uncle Nick- for lunch after an intensive but interesting Herbology lesson with Mike. Harry was telling Nicolas everything he had learned today in his cute childish voice and Nicolas was listening intently. Even when Harry was sitting down for lunch after washing his hands, he continued to talk but not when he was chewing. They had taught him table manners and Harry respected that.
"Are you full Harry?" asked Perenelle when Harry finished a second helping of pasta. Harry smiled innocently and replied cutely "Never too full for dessert Aunt Nellie!" She laughed as Nicolas nodded to Maria to bring out the dessert. After that he turned to Harry with a warm smile on his face. "Brownie and ice cream okay with you Harry?" he asked, knowing full well Harry had a humongous sweet tooth and willingly ate anything sweet.
"I'm fine with it," replied Harry cheerfully. If possible, he smile got even bigger when his dessert was placed in front of him. He wasted no time in devouring it and asking Maria for a second helping. Suddenly, their maid -Aesha- came in and announced "Master Riddle is back," Just as Tom strode through the doorway of the dining room. Harry's face lit up as he ran to hug his father. "Daddy!" he exclaimed. Tom chuckled and picked Harry up, hugging his son tightly. This little boy wormed his way into Tom's cold heart.
Just when he thought he would never find someone to love this much, Harry came along. A weak baby who fought hard to the end. Tom kissed Harry's forehead and placed him on the floor. "Harry, do you mind going to the library? I need to speak with Aunt Nellie and Uncle Nicky for awhile," Harry nodded and ran out of the dining room with Maria following along, fussing that Harry shouldn't run to fast or he may fall.
When they'd left, Tom waved his hand carelessly shutting the door and he put up a Silencing Charm. He sat down before Perenelle and Nicolas looking older than a 29 year old. His eyes were full of anguish as well as pride. "Perenelle... Nicolas... I killed old lady Potter," he whispered.

Chapter 01: The Splitting of Souls
Lily Athena Potter smiled down at her three babies in their cots. They were no older than 2 weeks and were triplets. Her beautiful children. The door to the nursery creaked open and her husband came in, smiling as well. He came towards his wife and slipped an arm around her waist.
"Come now Lils, you should be resting!" scolded James softly and lightly. Lily smiled at her hsuband James Harrison Potter and replied "I just wanted to see them. I still can't believe that this is true," James pressed a kiss on her forehead and pulled her closer.
"I know Lils. But we haven't decided on their names," he said with a frown. It was true. They had tried name after name for their children and none seemed to fit. Lily smiled slyly at James and said airily "Oh you mean YOU haven't decided on a name. I have,"
James gaped at his wife who was trying in vain to stifle her laughter as so not to wake the babies up. "Enlighten me then," James said, baffled. Lily giggled softly and leant over the shared cot. She pointed at the oldest triplet who was born at 11.30 p.m. and said quietly "He will Aidan Darrius Potter,"
She pointed and the second triplet who was born 3 minutes and 45 seconds after Aidan and said "She will be Rosaline Nerissa Potter," James smiled at the name Rosaline. His wife had always wanted to name her daughter that. Now she did. And finally, she pointed at the last one who was born 2 minutes after Rosaline and 5 minutes after Aidan. "He will be Harry James Potter," she said softly.
James squeezed his wife gently and led her out of the room. Words were not needed as James knew that his wife knew he liked the names. Little did they know.. They were about to lose one of their children.
James' mother watched as the couple exited the nursery in silence and happiness. As much as she hated to do this, she had no choice. She entered the nursery quietly and picked up Harry carefully. Among the triplets, he was the most sickly and had just recovered from a fever and stomach bug. "I'm sorry child," she said sadly. "I have no choice but to do this," Harry yawned and whimpered softly, his eyes opening to reveal a pair of pure green eyes that stared at the old lady terafully.
"Hush now," she said as she took out her wand and murmured "Silencio," Immediately, whatever sounds Harry made was silenced by that spell. The old lady bundled him in a blue blanket and placed him in a lined box then exited the house silently. She crept up several streets before turning into an alleyway where she placed the box down. "I'm sorry," she said one last time before she lifeted the silencing spell and fledded back to the haven of her home.
____
Harry lay in the small box feeling confused. To his little baby mind, he knew this wasn't home. That old woman just now had done something bad from the looks of it but he couldn't care less. All he wanted was he mama and papa who smiled at him. He started whimpering and his whimpers turned to full fledged crying. But sadly, it fell to deaf ears.
___
Lord Riddle sighed heavily and massaged his temples. As much as he enjoyed being an alchemist and an apprentice to Nicolas Flamel, it could get really annoying at times. Especially when Nicolas dumped his paper work on Lord Riddle and ran off to Italy or where ever with his wife Perenelle. As he finished off the report -finally- and shut the file happily. Just as he did, the door to his private study -provided on insistence of Perenelle- opened and Maria, the head of the house affairs popped her head in and clicked her tongue.
"Aye monsieur, it is no good for you to be working as late as this. That Nicolas," she said disapprovingly. Lord Riddle smiled at the stern French lady and replied "Ah, but you know how he is," She shook her head ruefully and entered the room with a cunningly hidden tray of food which she placed in front of the young lord.
She sat opposite him and said "I know him far too well to know that he is in Tahiti trying to find the young lord a good wife," She looked pointedly at Lord Riddle and he choked on his crumpet. After clearing his throat and wiping his mouth, he exclaimed "Finding me a good wife?! What for?!"
Maria gave her normal throaty chuckle and smiled dryly at the handsome young man before her. "Come now monsiuer, surely you know that Madame Perenelle and Monsieur Nicolas cares deeply for you. They want you to settle and have kids," Once more, Lord Riddle promptly choked again on his crumpet. Maria laughed and shook her head in amusement. "Tom," she said seriously now. "You're already 28, you need a family,"
Tom looked sadly at Maria and said "I only wish I could find happiness Maria. Honestly," She gave him a small smile and patted his hand briefly. "You can if you want to," And with that she left the room.
____
The next morning was a sad affair for the Potters. Somehow old Mrs. Potter had deceived her son and daughter in law into believing that the charmed toy baby was really Harry and had died from his fever. They had a small funeral and buried the 'body' in the ancestral grave of the Potters. "My Harry. I'm so sorry," sobbed Lily as her husband forcefully brought her away from the fresh grave, tears in his eyes too. "Lils, I should've checked but it's too late," said James mournfully. "Now we have to look out for Rosie and Aidan to make sure they don't leave us too,"
His wife sobbed on his shoulder and nodded at the same time."Yes, for Harry," she whispered tearily. Old Mrs. Potter felt a wrench of guilt but shook it off. She did it for the greater good. That was all that mattered.
___
A week later...
Harry was losing strength. He had no more strength left in him to fight for his little 3 weeked life. No strenght to continue his cries for attention, food and warmth. His loud cries had by now turned into soft mewls of hunger and sometimes whimpers of pain from nightmares that plagued his childish dreams.
Then finally, as he was about to totally give up and submit to the darkness of death, a man came and picked him up, cradling him gently.
____
Tom Marvolo Riddle was not having a good day. Period. His alchemy went off course today, he couldn't even focus and the worst thing was he puked up whatever he ate and a stupid niggling sensation kept bothering him in the back of his mind. Thus, he was out walking when he heard it.
The soft pitiful mewling.
He thought it was a kitten.
How wrong he was.
There lay in the box,
A baby with tufts of black hair and beautiful green eyes
About to take his last breath to end his little life.
Malnourished and abandoned in an alleyway with just a blanket to keep him warm.
Tom knelt down and picked the baby up. He cradled the baby gently and whispered "The Breath of Life is all I can give you. Our souls will become one. In order to do that, you need to saty strong little one,"
The baby's green eyes showed understanding. Tom knew what it felt like to do anything to live. The baby was fighting for he's life and Tom was going to help it.
_____
"You shouldn't have overworked him!" scolded Perenelle to a sulky Nicolas. Nicolas opened his mouth to retaliate but was cut off by a loud BANG and a very out of breath Tom came running in as fast as he could carrying a bundle. "Tom! What is that you're holding?" asked Perenelle. "Why're you in such a rush? Is that a baby?!"
Tom nodded and took a few gulps of air before launching into a summarised explanation of how he found the baby and what he was planning to do. Nicolas stood up and said worriedly "Tom, he's just a baby. What you're about to do might kill him,"
"I know that. But would you rather let this child suffer ?" he asked quietly. Nicolas knew he had lost and immediately cleared the room to begin the ritual. Tom smiled down at the baby before placing him down in the centre of the ring and sitting at one of the outer corners. In the opposite corner, Nicolas was already sitting there prepared for what was to come. Tom picked up the dagger and the ritual began.
Nicolas started chanting "Found lost in the dark. Here to give back the light. Giving life to one so small, bringing your joy back to your heart,"
Tom cleared his throat and continued. "Chose my soul to share with you, the exchange of blood is what is needed. To free you from eternal darkness, and connect me to you," He pressed the dagger on his palm and allowed the blood to flow as he took his index finger and dipped it into the blood then started drawing runic symbols in the air. "The Breath of Life, the soul if mine, take it and come out from the darkness," he shouted over the powerful waves of magic.
Suddenly, a sensation that was so painful wrenched within Tom. He fought hard to scream and thrashed on the floor as it got more painful. The baby was screaming and crying. Pain... Pain... And he blacked out.
I have,"

The Doll's Dream
This is a story by the way.
THE DOLL'S DREAM 'The Breath of Life is my gift to you. Our souls are joined as one'
Prologue:
He heard a soft mewling.
It sounded like a small kitten.
Oh, how wrong he was.
A small baby with tufts of raven hair laid in a box,
Malnourished and almost dying,
He pitied the young baby and carried the baby out gently as he whispered
'I will gift you with the Breath of Life. It is all I can do to save you'

Miracles Do Happen
Miracles Do Happen:
‘People believe in miracles, if one could happen for her, she’d still be here.’
Prologue:
She knew something he didn’t.
He was clueless about his wife’s condition.
She wished something miraculous would happen to bring him back.
He continuously ignored her mental pleas for help.
She wished it would snow. For once. Let something go her way.
She wished that a miracle would happen.
-----
Skylar Raines sat at the front steps of her house, looking at the sunset. The purple glow from the fading sun created a beautiful aura around the neighborhood. She sighed as she placed her hand over her stomach.
Where is he? She thought worriedly. She felt a feeling of uneasiness settle over her as she kept on the lookout for the familiar silver Volvo. She sighed once more and stood up. She started pacing around restlessly and the whole time her hand stayed on her stomach. How was she going to tell him she was pregnant?
Finally, after what seemed like hours when it was only a few minutes, the silver Volvo pulled up into her driveway.
He’s back! She thought excitedly. Thank god, I prepared a dinner for our anniversary!
With a warm smile, she approached her husband. “Welcome home! How was your day?” she asked. As usual, he responded with a cool shrug and promptly ignored her.
Danny Oxfords. He is married to Skylar. But he couldn’t give a damn about her. He married her because he just had to. He had no choice but to save her from marrying his twin brother. He knew he should act like a good husband, but right now, his mind was on someone who wasn’t his wife. Prue Mikhail.
“I made dinner for us…” murmured Skylar slowly losing her confidence from Danny’s cold response. Was this really the man she loved? Where was the sweet guy who always took her out for dinner? Apparently, he disappeared the moment he started his affair with Prue.
“You wasted time and food then. I’m going to take a quick bath then go out for a meeting,” he said quietly, his words burned her like hot steel. Another meeting? With Prue probably. Skylar finally said angrily “Today’s our anniversary! At least stay for awhile!!”
Danny was taken aback. Under normal circumstances his wife would allow him to go out. But today, he knew she treasured this date because they got married today. It’s been 5 years, he thought. “Fine, but only an hour,” he replied gruffly before he entered the house.
-----
Skylar sat opposite her husband. She felt really nervous for some odd reason. Why? She watched Danny carefully picking at the food and she sighed.
“Dan… I need to tell you something,” she whispered, fear creeping over her, threatening to take over. He looked up and put down his utensils.
“What?” he asked coldly. She gulped and took a deep breath “I’m pregnant Dan,”
A look of pure shock crossed Danny’s face before it disappeared. “How many months?” he asked. “3 months,”
Danny’s fist hit the table angrily and he stood up. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I could’ve done something!” he shouted. Now he can’t leave her. Because of the damned baby.
Skylar blinked back her tears and she stood up, feeling equally angry. “What’s wrong Dan? Feeling scared because you can’t leave me? What were you going to do? Make me abort the baby?! YOU CAN GO TO HELL IF YOU THINK I WILL” she screamed at him. Fury blinding her sanity as she continuously shouted at him. Every fault he made these past 2 years.
Why oh why did she have to love a bastard.
Suddenly, a rough calloused hand slapped Skylar. The force pushed her to the ground. She touched her cheek in shock. He had hit her. For the first time. “Shut up woman! You owe me that much!” he said angrily, kicking her. Her screams echoed throughout the house as she cried for him to spare the baby even if he did not want to spare her.
“Please Dan!! The baby’s innocent!” she sobbed as she tried but failed to stand up. Danny finally stopped abusing her and he glared down at her. “Abort the child or I’ll make you miscarry,” he growled threateningly before he went out of the house.
Skylar lay no the dining room floor sobbing as she clutched her stomach like there was no tomorrow. She looked down at her hand and saw the silver marriage band Danny had given to her. A rush of hatred seeped through her body.
She pushed her battered body off the ground and took out the ring. She threw it angrily and it hit the wall with a CLINK before landing on the ground.
She hated Danny.
But she loved him.
She wanted to walk away from him.
She wanted to stay by his side.
She stumbled out off the house weakly, tasting blood in her mouth. Bruises were starting to form on the places where he had hit her.
“Danny, how could you,” she whispered hoarsely as she continued to stumble down the street. Finally, losing her strength, she slumped in front of a window. A bright, cozy light shone through it and Skylar laughed bitterly. If only Danny would stay home with her and cuddle her. But he left the house leaving her battered and bruised on the floor. How dare he?
Grabbing on to the windowsill she pulled herself up only to see Danny and a blonde haired woman kissing.
He was kissing a woman.
But it wasn’t her.
He was holding a woman.
But it wasn’t her.
He was spending New Year’s Eve with someone.
Who wasn’t her.
Tears spilled from her eyes as she ran as far as she could from the house.
She knew something he didn’t.
He was clueless about his wife’s condition.
She wished something miraculous would happen to bring him back.
He continuously ignored her mental pleas for help.
She wished it would snow. For once. Let something go her way.
She wished that a miracle would happen.
She tripped over a pebble and fell on the ground face first. Hot tears spilled down her cheeks continuously. Please god… For once… Let it snow… For once… let something go my way…
She prayed silently, sobs wracking through her weak body. The temperature dropped but she stayed on the ground. She had lost all will to live. She’d rather die than know she wasn’t the woman her husband loved.
Finally, her wish came through. A miracle happened and for once, it snowed after she prayed for it to.
A bitter smile played on her face and she murmured “Thank you God. For everything,” She took her last breath and her face hit the ground.
------
Danny pulled away from Prue and smiled warmly at her. “Come on, lets eat,” he said before seating himself. Prue reluctantly sat opposite him and she nervously played with a strand of her hair.
“Are you sure you don’t want to spend New Year’s Eve with your wife?” she asked nervously. He nodded and started eating.
In the middle of their meal, his phone started ringing but he ignored it. “Aren’t you going to pick it up?” asked Prue. He shook his head and replied “It’s probably Sky. She wants to know where I am 24/7,”
Prue stood up abruptly and put on her jacket. “WAIT! Where are you going sweetie?” asked Danny. “I’m leaving. You should go home,” she walked out of the front door leaving a confused Danny in her wake.
His phone started ringing again and he picked it up “WHAT!!” he asked in an irritated manner. “Mr. Oxfords please come to the hospital now,” said a polite voice.
For the first time, Danny felt a wave of panic rush through him. “Your wife is here,”
He ran all the way to the hospital.
“Yes? What is it?” he panted, out of breath. The doctor looked at him sadly and said “My condolences, the mother and child died before reaching the hospital,” Danny shook his head as he slid to the floor.
“You’re lying,” he said in horror. Skylar was dead. His child was dead. Because of his negligence. He even abused her. He felt sick with himself as he entered the room only to see his wife’s petite body covered with a white cloth. The doctor shook his head and continued, “A pedestrian found her. When the ambulance came, they announced her dead… But the odd thing was her body was warm despite the fact the snow landed on her body, nearly burying her,”
“Sky… Don’t go… I promise, we’ll raise the child. I’ll buy the child anything! Just please don’t go!” he whispered. Tears slid down his cheeks. For the first time, Danny cried for his wife feeling regret for his past actions. For some odd reason, the ache in his heart didn't fade away.
----
“And so today, we bid farewell to Skylar Raines and her child, Daisy Oxfords,” said the priest quietly. People knelt before her grave which was now decorated with roses.
The last person to approach the grave was Danny. “Hey Sky,” he whispered. “I hope you like the name for our baby… The epitaph really suits you…”
EPITAPH:
Skylar Raines.
A loving and kind wife.
Who never got to see her baby.
She will always be remembered.
Danny smiled and placed the white rose on her grave. “Thank you Sky. For the unknowing joy you brought to my life. You were my miracle. And you made me realize that Prue wasn't the one for me,” he said before leaving.
He loved her without even knowing it. It was too late to regret anything.
Somehow, God sent him a miracle...
Eventhough he didn't want it.
He ended up loving the God send.
END.

The Wilting Rose
Gardener,
I'm dying... i'm dying slowly and painfully.. why haven't you been giving me my basic needs? You know that i need your tender loving care, water and your sunshine. You brought me to life and now you're leaving me? why? Look at my petals... They've gona black and ugly. Is that why you don't want me? Look at me leaves... Their all gone... Is that why you're leaving? Because i no longer hold the beauty that every red rose has? Come back to me. I need you. You are the reason i'm alive. Come back gardener... Don't say goodbye. Because i'm wilting.
